It’s a Great Day to… Faceoff Against Cancer on the 30th anniversary of Bob Johnson’s passing
MADISON, Wis. -- On the 30th anniversary of the passing of "Badger Bob" Johnson, the architect of the great tradition of the Wisconsin men's hockey program, Wisconsin men's hockey will hold its annual 'Faceoff Against Cancer' game when it takes on Clarkson on Friday, Nov. 26, at the Kohl Center.
Three-time NCAA championship-winning head coach, Olympic coach and Stanley Cup champion, Bob Johnson passed away from brain cancer in 1991.
In honor of "Badger Bob's" legacy, the Badger will hand out 6,000 rally towels and hold a ceremonial puck drop prior to the game.
Throughout the game, UW will recognize the work of those fighting the disease including survivors and first responders, as well as The Ride and Casting for Kids, two events with ties to the program that raise money for local cancer research through the UW Carbone Cancer Center and the American Family Children's Hospital.
