MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team will make its 23rd appearance in the NCAA tournament as the Badgers will host Butler in the opening round of the 2021 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship.
UW and Butler will battle in a 6 p.m. contest at the McClimon Soccer Complex on Friday.
Tickets will be sold at the gate only starting at 5 p.m. on Friday. Tickets will be $9 for adults and $5 for youth, seniors and UW-Madison students. Parking for the game will be available in Lot 60, located north of the McClimon Soccer Complex, for free starting at 4:30 p.m. CT.
Fans that can't make it to Madison can watch the game live for free on B1G+.
This marks the fifth time in six seasons that UW has made the NCAA tournament. UW has won its last four first-round games and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 in both 2018 and 2019.
The Badgers had three players earn spots on the All-Big Ten team this year in senior Natalie Viggiano, junior Macy Monticello and freshman Aidan McConnell. UW earned an 8-5-6 record this season while facing nine teams that made the NCAA tournament.
The Bulldogs earned a 15-4-1 record and went 7-2-1 in Big East play. Katie Soderstrom earned first-team All-Big East honors after leading Butler in goals (12) and tying for the team lead in assists (7).
UW leads the all-time series with Butler, 4-0, with the last meeting coming in 2019 when the Badgers earned a 2-1 overtime win at the McClimon Soccer Complex thanks to a Cammie Murtha overtime goal.
The winner of UW/Butler will advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament and will face either UC-Irvine or UCLA the following weekend.
