EVANSTON, Ill. – All is fine for Wisconsin women's soccer (4-2-1) as freshman
Ali Fine scored her first collegiate goal to give UW a 1-0 win over Northwestern on Thursday night.
Northwestern outshot Wisconsin 9-5, but the main threat came in the 76
th minute for the Badgers. On a throw-in, Gabby Green maintained possession and sent a cross into the box to Fine. She found space in between the Wildcat defense and found the right side of the net.
Northwestern got off to a hot start in the first half with six corner-kick opportunities in the first 45 minutes and seven total in the contest. A mixture of play on both the near and far sides were not enough for the Wildcats to find the back of the net in the game.
Wisconsin kept pace at the end of the game with tight defense despite two late scoring opportunities for the Wildcats.
The result marks the fourth 1-0 Wisconsin this season and gives
Jordyn Bloomer her fifth clean sheet of the year.
Next up for the Badgers is a Sunday afternoon contest against Indiana in Bloomington, Indiana.
