HEAT SHEET
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's rowing team performed in the clutch when it claimed fourth place at the Big Ten championships this past Sunday. That helped the Badgers earn one of 22 invites to the 2021 NCAA Rowing Championships, set for May 28-30 at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida.
The Badgers' invite made it 13 consecutive seasons they will compete in the NCAA championships, the longest active streak in Wisconsin athletics.
It will mark UW's 15th NCAA appearance in 16 seasons under head coach Bebe Bryans and the program's 17th all-time since the event began in 1997.
UW entered the 2021 Big Ten Championships ranked No. 20 in the nation and sixth among Big Ten crews, but finished fourth in the varsity eight and second varsity eight to help grab fourth-place overall and finish ahead of the ninth and 16th-ranked crews in the nation.
One of four schools from the Big Ten to earn a bid, Wisconsin joins Big Ten champion Michigan, as well as Rutgers and Ohio State in the field.
