Seniors dedicated student-athletes for women’s golf and cross country/track & field
The league announced on Wednesday the recipients of its annual awards of $7,500 for student-athletes who plan to continue their education in a graduate-level program. The scholarship recipients are selected primarily on the basis of academic achievements.
Hailing from Mokena, Illinois, Gromala is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree in 2019, 2020 and 2021. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology and is currently applying for medical school programs. She was recently named as a 2021 Women's Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar and a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.
Gromala capped her final season as a Badger competing in three tournaments. She shot a career-low 18-hole score of 74 in the second round of the Indiana Spring Challenge.
Perreault was a member of the 2019 and 2020-21 Big Ten Conference championship men's cross country teams. A native of Skokie, Illinois, he was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection in cross country and three-time Academic All-Big Ten in track and field.
A two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, Perreault graduates in May after only three years at the UW with a triple major in computer science, political science and mathematics. He maintains a 3.976 cumulative grade point average. Perreault will spend his summer working as a software developer at Epic Systems in Verona before heading to University of Cambridge in Great Britain where he will study computer science.
To be selected for a Big Ten postgraduate scholarship, students must have maintained at least a 3.2 grade-point average, demonstrated leadership qualities, served as an excellent role model and intend to continue their academic work at a graduate degree program. Two students from each Big Ten institution are annually awarded the $7,500 scholarships.
