MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team suffered its first setback of the 2021 campaign, dropping a 2-1 overtime contest to Notre Dame on Thursday night at the McClimon Soccer Complex.
Notre Dame (2-0-1) struck first, scoring the first goal of the year against UW (2-1-0) in the eighth minute to take a 1-0 lead.
But the Badgers wouldn't go down without a fight as they knotted the score up in the 60th minute after
Emma Jaskaniec converted a penalty into the top left corner to knot the game at 1-1. The PK occurred after
Cammie Murtha drew a penalty in the box after
Izzy Verdugo sent a beautiful cross.
The two teams went in extra time deadlocked before Notre Dame scored on a penalty kick in the 91st minute to win the game.
