
Badgers earn 13 more NCAA qualifying marks

Wisconsin continues to shine at Minnesota Invitational
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- On the third day of the Minnesota Invitational, the Wisconsin men's and women's swimming and diving teams picked up 13 more NCAA qualifying marks. The 13th-ranked women's team earned eight B cuts while the 21st-ranked men's team collected five on Friday night.
Sophomore Katie McClintock led the UW women, finishing third in the 400 IM in a personal best time of 4 minutes, 12.06 seconds. Junior Callahan Dunn also recorded a personal best in the IM, finishing fifth in 4:15.63. The Badgers also had two finishers in the B final as Maddie Aguirre took 13th in 4:23.37 and Ally Silvestri finished 14th in 4:23.53.
Junior Phoebe Bacon also picked up a third-place finish, earning a B qualifying time in the 100 back of 51.40. Freshman Abby Wanezek took 12th in 54.42 while junior Kaylyn Schoof placed 14th in 54.91.
Sophomore Abby Carlson was the top Badger in the 200 free, earning a B cut time of 1:46.24 to finish fourth. Freshman Blair Stoneburg was close behind, touching in 1:46.73 for sixth place.
Senior Mallory Jump earned an NCAA time in the 100 fly, placing fifth in 52.62.
Wisconsin also picked up two B cuts in the 100 breaststroke as Elizabeth Moore swam a personal best of 1:00.76 to place sixth and freshman Hazal Ozkan touched in 1:01.15 for eighth.
In the 400 medley relay, the team of Bacon, Moore, Jump, and Wanezek combined for a 3:34.35 clocking to place fourth.
On the men's side, the Badgers picked up two NCAA B times in the 200 free and 100 breast.
In the 200 free, junior Jake Newmark touched in 1:33.14 to place third while junior Andrew Benson finished 12th in a personal best time of 1:35.12.
Senior Will Myhre led UW in the 100 breast, finishing sixth in 52.70. Sophomore Matthew Segal placed 13th in 53.62 to earn a qualifying time.
On the 3-meter springboard, freshman Sebastian Lawrence finished fifth with a NCAA Zone qualifying score of 329.40 points.
The team of Newmark, Myhre, Benson and Constantin Bensch combined to finish sixth in the 400 medley relay in 3:08.49.
