Thrilling doubles play set tone for spirited night

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 8 seed Oklahoma in the first round of the 2022 ITA Team Indoor Championships on Friday night, hosted this year at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

The Badgers came out swinging in doubles play, hanging tough and taking the doubles point down to the final court. After the No. 42 ranked duo of Layne Sleeth and Alexandra Pisareva earned a 6-2 win on Court 2 for the Sooners, Ariel Johnson and Ava Markham responded on Court 3 with a 6-3 victory. Oklahoma ultimately came out on top, however, as the nation's No. 9 doubles team of Carmen Corley and Ivana Corley earned a contested 6-4 win on Court 1 to claim the doubles point.

Oklahoma went on to close things out in singles play, earning wins on Courts 3, 4 and 6.
