BEIJING - Five Wisconsin Badgers are guaranteed to win gold on Wednesday, as the United States and Canadian women's hockey teams both advanced to the gold medal game at the 2022 Winter Olympics behind convincing semifinal wins on Monday.

Canada took care of business first, earning a 10-3 win over Switzerland. Blayre Turnbull and Emily Clark each scored, while Sarah Nurse added four assists to tie Hayley Wickenheiser's Olympic record for the most assists at a Winter Olympics with 12.

Ann-Renee Desbiens made 10 saves to earn her fourth win of the tournament.

The U.S. earned a 4-1 win on Monday, as Hilary Knight scored the game-winning goal and added an assist. Abby Roque put the game out of reach with an empty-net goal, her first goal at the Olympics. Alex Cavallini recorded 25 saves to earn her third win in Beijing.

Knight has tied Jenny Potter and Angela Ruggiero for the most Winter Olympics games played in U.S. women's hockey history with 21, while also moving into second place all-time in U.S. women's hockey history for Olympic points.

Wednesday's gold-medal game is scheduled to begin at 10:10 p.m. CT and can be seen live on NBC or online through Peacock.
