50 For 50: Finding 50 Leaders to celebrate 50 Years of Title IX

Wisconsin Athletics is searching for philanthropic leaders in our Badger community to support our 350+ women student-athletes

MADISON, Wis. -- On June 23, 1972, Title IX was signed into law, introducing equity and increased opportunities to women athletes. To celebrate its historic passing, Wisconsin Athletics is searching for philanthropic leaders in our Badger community to support our 350+ women student-athletes.

Our goal is to raise 50 major gifts to honor 50 years, thus securing $1,250,000+ to impact Badger women. This campaign will begin June 23 and run through the remainder of 2022.

Wisconsin women have devoted over a century of determination and hard work to build a legacy that UW is proud to represent. It is our mission to continue to provide resources and more opportunities for women student-athletes to compete at the highest level. Help us uphold our progressive tradition of showing the world what our Badger women can achieve.

"On this important 50th anniversary, we, UW athletics, want to do everything we can to uplift and support our women student-athletes. This campaign will help strengthen the support of our women's programs."

"I am extremely proud of the strong and dynamic women within the UW athletic department, from the players, to the administrators and coaches. As the Head Women's basketball coach, I am well aware of the privilege and responsibility that comes with this position and platform. This pivotal campaign will honor 50 years since the passing of Title IX and strengthen the support for our Badger Women!"

- Marisa Moseley, head coach Wisconsin women's basketball

Since the passing of Title IX 50 years ago, our Wisconsin Women's sport programs have had 17 national titles, over 100 B10 conference championships and countless All Americans.  This success would not be possible without the resources provided through private donations.  We are thankful for the fans and donors who have and continue to support the Badgers.

"Education and women's athletics were an integral part of my life from playing high school and college golf, to earning degrees in both physical education and journalism.  My career in women's sports information was made possible with the introduction of Title IX. I joined the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department in 1977, where I served in communications for nearly 40 years. Giving to the 50 for 50 Campaign was one way of thanking the student-athletes with whom I worked over the years. I also hope my contribution will help make an impact for the next generation of women athletes."

- Tamara Flarup, UW Athletics staff (1977-2016) & donor
