Badgers men’s soccer shows resilience in comeback win over Marquette
Straight from the Pitch – Head Coach Neil Jones
"Great performance from the team tonight. [I'm] very proud of the group and their continued excitement to grow and improve. I'm fired up to start Big Ten conference play at Penn State on Friday."
How it happened
It was a tale of two halves for the Wisconsin men's soccer team, who took on Marquette tonight in a cross-state classic. The conditions were anything but ideal with the downpour starting soon after the whistle blew. The Badgers went down 1-0 in the 41st minute and it looked like they would be going into the half with an uphill battle. But forward Mitchell Dryden had something else in mind, bagging a goal just two minutes after the team got scored on.

The Badgers came flying out the gate in the second half, with Maxwell Keenan scoring twice, in the 49th and the 59th minutes, and captain Matt Chandler delivering the finishing blow with Wisconsin's final goal in the 63rd minute. Marquette was able to get on the scoreboard one more time in the 79th but it was too little too late for the team from Milwaukee.
Set pieces played an outsized role in Badger goals with one on a free kick, one on a corner and a third on a follow up after a corner.
