Badgers face Rutgers on Colony Night
Rosters: Wisconsin || Rutgers
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Badgers have a huge Big Ten clash lined up at home Friday against Rutgers at 7 p.m. After a heartbreaking road loss to Penn State in the Big Ten opener, the Badgers will look to rebound in their second Big Ten game of the season.
Here are five things to know
1. COLONY NIGHT: We need everyone to come out Friday and pack the stands for Colony Night. Prior to the game we have scheduled the first ever 'March to McClimon.' To participate, meet us at the North Lawn of Dejope Residence Hall and walk with us to McClimon before the big game. There will be free pizza, t-shirts and tons of giveaways. Head coach Neil Jones is schedule to speak at 5:45 p.m. Let's create the best pregame atmosphere men's soccer has ever seen. You do not want to miss this!
2. PLAYERS TO WATCH:Â You can't count on one hand the number of times goalkeeper Carter Abbott has kept the Badgers in the game this season with a spectacular save. Abbott has faced 60 shots through six games this season, which breaks down to 10 shots per game (27 of those shot being on target).Â
For Rutgers, senior forward MD Myers has been on a rampage up front. Through the first seven games for the Scarlet Knights, Myers has six goals and 2 assists.Â
Â
3. LOOKING BACK: Wisconsin has played Rutgers 10 times total with the Badgers holding a 6-4-0 lead all-time. The last matchup between these two sides was in New Jersey on Sept. 24, 2021 and saw the Badgers come away with a 2-0 win. The UW victory marked the Scarlet Knights first loss of the season after entering the contest at 7-0-1.
Â
4. RECAPPING THE WEEK:Â The Badgers fell to Penn State last Friday away from home in their first Big Ten game of the season. It was a hard-fought scoreless battle until the very end when the Nittany Lions managed to put one way in the 86th minute.
Â
5. HOW TO FOLLOW: The game against Rutgers will stream on BTN+ at 7 p.m. Fans can also follow along via live stats or live from McClimon Soccer Complex. Admission is free.
