Senior earns her first WCHA honor as a Badger
MADISON, Wis. – After a three-point weekend against Bemidji State, Wisconsin women's hockey senior defender Anna Wilgren has been named the WCHA Defender of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
It marks the first time that the Hudson, Wisconsin, native has received WCHA honors as a Badger as she was previously named WCHA Defender of the Week during her time playing for Minnesota State from 2018-2023.
Wilgren posted two assists in the Badgers' 4-0 win against Bemidji State on Friday before adding an assist in UW's 8-1 win on Saturday. Her three points on the weekend led the league.
On the season, Wilgren has nine assists and a +18 plus/minus rating for the Cardinal and White.
Wilgren and the top-ranked Badgers open a six-game road swing with a trip to St. Thomas this Friday and Saturday. Puck drop on Friday is set for 6 p.m. while Saturday's contest begins at 5 p.m. and both games can be seen live on Big Ten Plus.
