
Women's swimming sends 10 to NCAA Championships

McKenna leads all qualifiers in 1650 free
MADISON, Wis. – The 21st-ranked Wisconsin women's swimming and diving team will send 10 athletes, competing in 11 events to the NCAA Championships on March 15-18 at the University of Tennessee Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
Reigning NCAA champion in the 1650 freestyle, Paige McKenna all swimmers with the No. 1 ranking in the same event. The sophomore from Easton, Pennsylvania, has the nation's fastest time of 15 minutes, 46.90 seconds. Â She will also be competing in the 500 free.
2023 Big Ten champion in the 500 free Abby Carlson is seeded seventh in the 500 free with a personal best time of 4:38.15. From Waukesha, Wisconsin, Carlson will also compete in the 400 free, 400 free relay and 800 free relay.
Junior Phoebe Bacon also ranks among the top-eight athletes entering the championship. The Chevy Chase, Maryland, native sits eighth in the 200 backstroke in 1:51.22 and 10th in the 100 back in 51.40.
The championships will be streamed live on ESPN+.
