MADISON, Wis. –
Badger Inquiry on Sport (BIOS), a research initiative of the Wisconsin Athletic Department, is excited to host its second-annual Symposium on Leadership and Coaching in Athletics. Hosted at historic Camp Randall Stadium on June 27, 2023, BIOS opens its doors to all coaches, administrators, and leaders for a unique research into practice opportunity.Â
The BIOS Symposium will pair new research findings in sports leadership with fresh insights from some top Badgers coaches and leaders. Â Wisconsin's men's basketball coach Greg Gard, women's basketball coach Marisa Moseley, volleyball associate head coach Brittany Dildine, Major League Baseball Commissioner Emeritus, Bud Selig and sports leadership Professor Pete Miller are among the speakers.
The theme of this year's coaching symposium is "Optimizing Your Coaching and Leadership Network." Attendees will:
- Receive findings from BIOS' groundbreaking Wisconsin Coaching Project study;
- Learn specific strategies from UW-Madison coaches on how to cultivate healthy relational networks that improve coaching and leadership possibilities;
- Connect with UW-Madison coaches, researchers, and leaders;
- Engage in interactive "walk and talks" throughout UW-Madison athletics facilities; and
- Earn a BIOS certificate of professional learning.
The June 27 Symposium will take place from 12:00 pm to 5:00 p.m. at the cost of $50 per person. Group rate is $40 per person. All are welcome!

What is BIOS?
Our Badger Inquiry on Sport (BIOS) initiative harnesses the power of the University of Wisconsin, bringing top-level research and athletics together.Â
We use three strategies to elevate a world-leading research and athletics enterprise.
BIOS connects
We serve as a bridge, purposefully connecting athletics, research, and innovation at UW.Â
BIOS catalyzes
We catalyze research and innovation by matching the interests of Badger athletics with leading sports scholars and trailblazers.
BIOS communicates
In concert with the Wisconsin Idea, we share what we've learned from sports research and innovation. BIOS shares with the UW athletic department, the UW-Madison campus, the state of Wisconsin, and beyond in order to "grow the good" of the world in and through sports.
