Badgers will continue to be supported by world’s number one sports drink through 2028-29
MADISON, Wis. – For years, Wisconsin Athletics has been the home to Gatorade Players of the Year and now the Badgers are proud to continue their partnership with Gatorade as the official sports drink of the Badgers.
The extended deal will see the world's number one sports drink brand continue fueling the Badgers, helping them train and perform at the highest level through the 2028-29 season.
"We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Gatorade, one of the world's most iconic sports brands," said Mitchell Pinta, Deputy Athletic Director. "Wisconsin Athletics is embarking on a new era and linking with Gatorade aligns with our mission of seeking excellence and championships. We have built a great relationship and look forward to several more years of connecting Gatorade to Wisconsin teams, venues and Badger athletes."
"At Gatorade, we're proud to be the sports drink athletes turn to at all stages of their athletic journeys— a testament to the trust our science-backed brand has in locker rooms globally," said Jeff Kearney, Global Head of Sports Marketing at Gatorade. "We look forward to continuing to fuel the Badgers on and off the playing surface for years to come."
As part of Wisconsin's partnership with Gatorade, which began in 2017, Gatorade will provide hydration products to all UW student-athletes and maintain presence within athletic facilities, locker rooms and sidelines.
Wisconsin rosters will feature more than 20 Gatorade Player of the Year winners in 2023-24, including four honorees from the 2022-23 prep season. Among this year's talented freshman class are volleyball winner Saige Damrow (Wisconsin), boys basketball standout Nolan Winter (Minnesota) and Pierce Seigne from boys track & field (New Hampshire).
A year ago, the UW women's soccer team welcomed a pair of Gatorade Players of the Year in Rylee Howard (Missouri, 2022) and Riley Philbin (Illinois, 2022) and the football program added 2021-22 Wisconsin winner, Myles Burkett. Over the last 20 years, UW football has boasted former Wisconsin honorees like Hunter Wohler, Leo Chenal, Alec Ingold, Vince Biegel, Melvin Gordon, Nick Toon and Brian Calhoun among others.
Earlier this spring Wisconsin Athletics and Pepsi announced a sponsorship renewal that will keep Pepsi as an official partner of the Badgers through the 2028-29 season.
