Men's tennis wrapped up opening weekend at Nielsen
MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin men's tennis team wrapped up its first weekend of 2024 action at Nielsen Tennis Stadium on Sunday with a 2-4 decision versus the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Wisconsin's Michael Minasyan and Collin Beduhn both claimed singles victories in straight sets.
Despite Notre Dame taking the doubles point with two victories, Wisconsin notched a win at No. 1 with Mihailo Popovic and Michael Minasyan posting a 6-3 victory.
In singles play, Minasyan cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 2 while Beduhn went 6-4, 6-1 in his win. Three singles matches went to first-set tiebreakers, but each were claimed by the Irish. After an early win at No. 1, Notre Dame took the second sets of each match that went to first-set tiebreakers to claim the 5-2 victory.
Up Next: The Badgers head home to take on Old Dominion inside Nielsen Tennis Stadium. First serve is set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26 in Madison.
