MADISON, WIS. - The Wisconsin women's soccer team trampled the Maryland Terrapins, 5-0, in the second-to-last regular season game. The Badgers had five different goal scorers, with
Jenna Baumann earning her career-first in the 90th minute.Â
The last time the Badgers scored five or more goals was in Sept.  2022 with a dominant 5-2 win over Purdue and the last time the team had a 5-0 shutout was against Eastern Illinois in Aug. 2021.
How it Happened
First Half
The Badgers showed up early in the game earning a goal in the 8
th minute from
Peighton Steffen.
Ten minutes later, Wisconsin kept up the pressure and drew its first corner kick of the game.
Erin Connolly capitalized with a backwards kick into the net.
With the score reading 2-0 at the half, Wisconsin was leading in shots (11-2), shots-on-goal (3-0), and corners (2-0).
Second Half
The halftime break did not stop Wisconsin's stride as
Maia Richters scored the team's third goal in the 64
th minute.Â
In the 79
th minute
Ashley Martinez earned a penalty kick and capitalized with a no-doubter into the net.
The Badgers fought until the very end with
Jenna Baumann scoring her first career goal with 3 seconds left on the clock.
Wisconsin had the statistical advantage throughout the match leading in shots (19-3), shots-on-goal (7-0), and corners (6-1).
