MADISON, Wis. – Phoebe Bacon of the women's swim and dive team was named the Big Ten Women's Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the Big Ten on Wednesday afternoon.
Bacon tabbed three first place finishes and three NCAA "B" cuts this weekend in a triangular meet against Michigan and Notre Dame. The graduate student finished with a time of 1:55.61 in the 200 backstroke, 1:58.50 in the 200 IM and 1:57.37 in the 200 butterfly. Bacon was less than half a second off the "B" cut time in her second place finish in the 100 butterfly, as she finished with a time of 53.64 while time to beat is 53.34.
This marks Bacon's eighth swimmer of the week award during her time at UW. Bacon was also named the 2021 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and 2023 Big Ten Swimmer of the Year.
Up next, the Badgers will have an off week, before hosting Minnesota on Nov. 1 where they will look to pack the pool and set a new attendance record at Soderholm Family Aquatic Center.
