Badgers fall to Jackrabbits, 79-57

Badgers battle hard but fall short

BROOKINGS, SD — The Wisconsin women's basketball team battled hard in a 79-59 loss to the RV/25 South Dakota State Jackrabbits.

Serah Williams led the way for the Badgers, scoring 19 points, while Ronnie Porter added 11. Lily Krahn also made an impact, tying her career high with two three-pointers to finish with six points.

As a team, Wisconsin shot 41.1% (23-56) from the field, 26.7% (4-15) from beyond the arc, and 58.3% (7-12) at the free throw line. The Badgers also picked up four points off fast breaks.

However, South Dakota State shot 52.0% (30-58) from the floor and 43.0% (6-14) from three-point range.

How it Happened

The game was close in the first half, with both teams making three of seven attempts from three-point range. Wisconsin sparked a 7-0 run late in the second quarter, but South Dakota State held a 36-30 lead at the break. The Badgers did manage to create turnovers, converting them into eight points off steals.

In the second half, Williams was able to exploit the Jackrabbits' defense, hitting a series of turnaround jumpers and layups. Carter McCray also contributed, scoring four points as she powered through the defense. Despite the Badgers' efforts, South Dakota State was able to pull away in the final stretch.

Up Next

The Badgers will return home to face the Milwaukee Panthers on Sunday, Nov. 17. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. inside the Kohl Center.
