MADISON, Wis. – Sophomore forward Quinn Finley produced a four-point weekend to help lead Wisconsin men's hockey to a two-game road sweep at No. 18 Penn State and earned Big Ten Second Star of the Week in the process, the conference announced on Tuesday.
In Friday's game at Penn State, Finley tallied the primary assist on graduate student forward Ryland Mosley's series-opening goal 3:27 into the contest.
On Saturday, the sophomore recorded one goal and two assists in the Badgers' 6-3 victory over the Nittany Lions. He scored his team and Big Ten-leading eighth goal of the year 3:02 into the first period and tallied primary assists on both Badger power-play goals in the third period to bring his point total to a team-best 14 in 12 games played.Â
The Suamico, Wisconsin, native's eight goals tie him for first place in the conference, and his 14 points are good for fifth. He's also tied for third in the NCAA in goals and 13th in points.
This marks the first time in his career that Finley won a Big Ten weekly honor.
The most recent Badger to receive a Big Ten Star of the Week was former senior goaltender Kyle McClellan, who was named the conference's second star on Feb. 27, 2023.Â
After a bye week this weekend, Finley and the Badger men's hockey team return to action next week for a pair of games against Alaska Anchorage at the Kohl Center on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29-30. Friday's game starts at 7 p.m. and Saturday's begins at 8 p.m. Both contests stream on B1G+.
