MADISON, Wis. – For the second time in her career, Wisconsin women's hockey freshman
Ava McNaughton has been named the WCHA Rookie of the Month as the league announced its February award winners on Tuesday.
McNaughton went 4-0-0 in net for Wisconsin and picked up ranked wins against then-No. 10 St. Cloud State, then-No. 5 Minnesota and No. 1 Ohio State.Â
Her 1.00 goals-against average was the fourth-best mark in the league among all goaltenders while her .955 save percentage ranked fifth.Â
The Seven Fields, Pennsylvania, native earned two shutouts in February, including a 4-0 win over No. 5 Minnesota.
McNaughton and the second-ranked Badgers host St. Thomas in a WCHA First Round Series at LaBahn Arena this weekend. Puck drop on Friday is set for 5 p.m. while Saturday's contest will start at 4 p.m. If a third game is necessary, that would take place on Sunday at 4 p.m. All three games will stream online through B1G+ and can be heard in Madison on The Game 1070 AM.Â
