UW Field House to host LOVB Madison’s Debut Match, Anchored by Badger Alumna, 4x All-American and 2024 Olympian Lauren Carlini
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin Athletics and League One Volleyball (LOVB) – the largest brand in youth volleyball with its professional league launching in the US later this year– today announced that the UW Field House will be a featured home game site for the professional team launching in Madison later this year, including LOVB Madison Volleyball's first-ever match.
Kicking off its pre-season following this year's Olympic games, LOVB Madison will feature some of the most notable athletes in the sport, including 2024 Olympian and former Badger All-American Lauren Carlini who will anchor the LOVB Madison team.
Today's announcement includes LOVB Madison's season schedule against other LOVB pro teams from the cities of Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Omaha and Salt Lake. To get first access to season tickets, fans can place deposits on refundable tickets, with public sale of tickets coming later this summer.
"When we were looking at locations for our inaugural season, the Wisconsin Field House was a clear choice with its storied volleyball history," said Rosie Spaulding, LOVB Pro COO. "We could not be more excited to have a team in Madison, a community that has tremendous passion for championship-level volleyball, and look forward to hosting LOVB Madison's very first match in the Field House. With LOVB, it is our goal to provide incredible elite athletes like Lauren with the opportunity to play professionally at home in front of the communities who have supported them throughout their careers, and we're excited for Madison to be at the center of this watershed era for women's volleyball."
Announced last December, Wisconsin Badger great Lauren Carlini was named the founding athlete of LOVB Madison. Carlini helped set the tone for Badger volleyball during the start of the Sheffield era. The four-time AVCA All-American and three-time First Team All-American helped the Badgers to a runner-up finish at the 2013 NCAA Championships. In addition to her freshman campaign, Carlini was named the 2013 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and the AVCA Northeast Regional Freshman of the Year. To cap off her accolades, the Illinois native was also a four-time All-Big Ten selection and was named 2014 Big Ten Player of the Year and 2014 and 2015 Big Ten Setter of the Year. Lastly, in 2016-17, Carlini was honored with the Sullivan Award for the best amateur athlete in any sport in the United States. The 6-foot-1 setter has played professionally overseas since her time at Wisconsin and was recently named to the 2024 USA Women's Olympic Indoor Volleyball roster competing in Paris this fall.
Also joining Carlini are former Badgers Danielle Hart (2017-2022) and Temi Thomas-Ailara (2023). Hart finished her career with the Badgers as a three-time All-Big Ten selection, 2022 First Team, and 2022 AVCA Third Team All-American. Thomas-Ailara joined Wisconsin for the 2023 season after spending four years at Northwestern. The 6-foot-2 outside hitter was a three-time First Team All-Big Ten and 2022 AVCA Second Team All-American.
LOVB Madison will be coached by Matt Fuerbringer, father of freshman setter Charlie Fuerbringer. Fuerbringer is currently an assistant coach with the U.S. Men's National Team and is well-known for his pro beach volleyball career. In addition, he played indoor volleyball for Stanford University and professionally overseas. To learn more about LOVB Madison's team including its roster, visit the LOVB Madison website.
