Wisconsin Football elevated over 790 lives during a week of giving back
MADISON, Wis. – For the second consecutive year, Wisconsin football student-athletes dedicated a week to giving back to their community through various service activities. Over the course of the week, student-athletes and coaches from each position group positively impacted the lives of more than 790 community members through a series of meaningful initiatives:
- Madison Reading Project: Student-athletes supported the mission of the Madison Reading Project by reading to young learners, igniting a love for reading, and helping close the literacy gap in our community.
- One City Schools: Student-athletes visited One City Schools, creating connections with young scholars by reading, writing, and sharing their experiences over the summer.
- Salvation Army: Student-athletes had the opportunity to empower youth through sport or prepare and serve a home-cooked lunch for those experiencing homelessness.
- The River Food Pantry: Student-athletes assisted the food pantry in packing and distributing meals to community members.
- The Bayview Foundation: Student-athletes visited the Bayview Foundation and shared their love of sports with the youth in the community.
- Goodman Community Center: Student-athletes contributed by aiding in food preparation and facility upkeep.
- Alumni Resource Center: Student-athletes fostered connections and provided a safe space for adult alumni with intellectual disabilities, including some fun karaoke!
- Mentoring Positives: Student-athletes encouraged youth development through mentorship in sports and entrepreneurship.
