Badgers drop to No. 2 Iowa

Wisconsin begins conference play 0-1
MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin wrestling team fell to No. 2 Iowa,45-0, in its first conference match of the season this Sunday. It was the first match of the new year for the Badgers, last competing on December 21 in Florida.
Iowa took every bout against the Badgers. Nicolar Rivera, Luke Mechler, and Brock Bobzien all fought the whole way, each losing by decision.
Following an upset victory over No.15 Jordan Titus of West Virginia in the Knockout Christmas Classic, Bobzien put on an impressive showing in the 141 pound bout. Taking Iowa's Jace Rhodes to sudden victory, but ultimately falling, 6-3.
Wisconsin is now 4-5 on the season, and begins conference play, 0-1.
Looking Ahead
Wisconsin hits the road for its first conference-away match against Maryland, Friday, January 17. The team faces the Terrapins at 6 p.m. (CT).
