Senior awarded Forward of the Week
MADISON, Wis - Kirsten Simms was awarded Forward of the Week by the WCHA this Monday, following a two-goal and three-assist weekend against No. 10 St. Cloud State.
Simms scored in each game against St. Cloud State, helping Wisconsin secure the majority of points in the series. Her two goals were tied for the most of any WCHA skater over the weekend, and her five points were tied for the most by a forward.
During Saturday's game against the Huskies, Simms scored a goal to reach 200 points in her career, becoming the eighth Badger to do so. Simms joins UW greats Casey O'Brien, Hilary Knight, Brianna Decker, Meghan Duggan, Sara Bauer, Brooke Ammerman and Annie Pankowski.Â
This is Simms' second time winning this honor this season, previously winning on Oct. 13 after scoring four points in a series against No. 4 Minnesota Duluth.
Simms also recently represented the United States and competed in both of Team USA's wins against Team Canada in the 2025 Rivalry Series. She is slated to return to the red-white-and-blue for the final two games of the series on December 10 and 13 in Edmonton.
The senior forward was a 2024-25 first team All-American member, Patty Kazmaier Award Top-10 Finalist and a WCHA Forward of the Year Finalist
The Plymouth, Mich. native will play for Wisconsin on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 20 and 21, in a series against St. Thomas at LaBahn Arena. Â Fans can watch the matchup on B1G+ or listen on 1070 The Game.Â
