Eleven Badger sports post perfect scores
MADISON, Wis. – For a second straight year, the University of Wisconsin-Madison matched its all-time high overall Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 94 percent – marking the eighth-consecutive year the Badgers have scored 90 percent of higher. UW's GSR was tied for the third-highest in the Big Ten and 18th among Power 4 schools.
A total of 14 Badger programs scored 90-or-better, with eleven earning perfect scores of 100 to lead the Big Ten in their respective sport in 2024-25 GSR figures, released today by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Seven of Wisconsin's 10 women's sports programs posted perfect scores. Wisconsin was one of five Big Ten programs to collect nine or more perfect scores.
"At the heart of Wisconsin's mission is elevating student-athletes to succeed academically and make a meaningful impact in their communities at large," said Director of Athletics Chris McIntosh. "We're extremely proud of our continued success, as highlighted in this year's report. These figures are a testament to student-athletes' hard work and commitment, and the robust academic support system we have built around them at Wisconsin."
GSR is a calculation required by the NCAA for all Division I student-athletes. Â This rate was designed to approximate a true student-centered measure of graduation (the student graduated from any four-year college within the six-year window) by essentially passing likely transfers from one college's cohort to another's cohort. Â
The average GSR for all NCAA Division I student-athletes is 90. This year's GSR spans the period covering student-athletes who enrolled at the University during 2015-18.
