UW goes 1-1 at Rady Children's Invitational
SAN DIEGO — The Wisconsin men's basketball team fell to TCU 74-63 in the Rady Children's Invitational Championship Game on Friday at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.Â
John Blackwell led the Badgers with 30 points, including seven-unanswered to end the first-half. It's his second game over the 30-mark this season, and third with 20-plus points. He's now led all scorers in three separate contests this year.Â
That run saw UW trail 41-37 at the interval, before TCU opened the second half on a 20-5 run to break the game open.
UW sparked a late comeback after the eight-minute media timeout, going on a 12-3 run thanks in part to two Braeden Carrington three-pointers. The senior finished with 6 points off the bench.
Nick Boyd dropped 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting, and was named to the all-tournament team after a career-night in the semifinal. He posted 36 points Thursday, while adding 7 assists and 7 rebounds in a 104-83 win over Providence on Thursday.Â
Up Next: The Badgers return home to Madison for a pair of games next week at the Kohl Center. UW opens Big Ten Conference play against Northwestern on Wednesday night with an 8 p.m. tip. Wisconsin will step out of conference play to take on Marquette next Saturday at the Kohl as the I-94 rivalry game will begin at 1 p.m. Â
