
Risser named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Minnesota native ran second-fastest time in school history in the 600 meters
MADISON, Wis. – After making his mark on the UW top-10 list in his Badger debut, Wisconsin men's track and field freshman Henry Risser was named the Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Men's Freshman of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Risser won the 600 meters at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener with a time of 1 minute, 17.09 seconds. That time is the second-fastest in school history and was the the 70th fastest time in U.S. indoor history.
A native of Golden Valley, Minnesota, Risser is the first Badger to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Week in men's track and field, an award that started last season.
The Badgers will resume their indoor season with the Badger Midwest Invite on Saturday, Jan. 10 in Chicago.
