
Badgers open indoor track season in Chicago

Wisconsin wins four events on Friday
CHICAGO - The Wisconsin Badgers women's track and field team dominated the Cougar Alumni Open on Friday at the Gately Track Complex as four Badgers won events at the season opener.Â
Sophomore Elissa Perkins secured the first win for UW this afternoon in Chicago, jumping 19 feet, ¾ inches (5.81m). Perkins is starting the year on a high, as this matched her season best from last year.
Four of the Five Badgers racing in the 60 meter prelims advanced to finals in freshman Catalina Sanchious, seniors Rachel Robinson and Sydney Robinson and sophomore Elissa Perkins. Sanchious' debut as a Badger started strong as she won the 60 final in 7.66 seconds. She was followed by Rachel Robinson who finished in second place, sprinting the 60m in 7.73. Sydney Robinson finished in fourth, Elissa Perkins finished in eight.Â
Sophomore Emma Kruse crushed the mile, earning her personal best during her first race of the season. She finished first with a time of 4:51.5.Â
In her Badger debut, freshman  Nicole Repka was second in the 300 meters in 39.21.Â
Wisconsin ended their night in Chicago, taking home a win in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:11.99. Elissa Perkins took on the first leg, followed by Nicole Repka, Sydney Robinson and finished by Rachel Robinson.Â
