Nine Badgers to compete this week in Fayetteville
MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's track and field team is moving on in its postseason run, this time traveling to the NCAA West First Round on Thursday, May 28th, and Saturday, May 30th. The meet will take place in Fayetteville, Arkansas, hosted by the University of Arkansas.
The Badgers will bring nine athletes to the meet, all looking to punch their ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Athletes who finish in the top-12 of their event will qualify for the big stage.

1. B1G TIME PERFORMANCES: The Badgers finished in 13th place in the Big Ten Championships, powered by strong performances from Taylor Kesner and Kylie Finger. Kesner set the tone with a season-best throw of 189 feet, 7 inches (57.78m) to finish as runner-up in the discus. Finger provided the exclamation point as she finished sixth in the 1500 meters with a 4:20.89. Just two hours later, she followed this performance with a fifth-place finish in the 5000m, running a 17:02.32.
2. THROWING DOWN: The women will look to continue their success in the throws department at the regional meet after strong performances at the Big Tens. Danni Langseth secured a fifth-place finish in the shot put, throwing a personal-best 55-9 (16.99m) that moved her up to fifth in the program's all-time list.
3. GOING THE DISTANCE: The distance squad performed well at the Big Tens. Leane Willemse ran a 33:54.98 to place sixth in the 10,000 meters. She followed this performance on Sunday by running a 17:17.45 in the 5000 meters to finish 12th. Maggie Munson ran a personal-best 10:30.45 in the 3000-meter steeplechase, putting her at ninth in program history.
4. REGIONAL CONTENDERS: The Badgers bring several women who are top-ranked in the region. Taylor Kesner is ranked No. 8 in the discus and will look to continue her momentum from the Big Tens. Danni Langseth is also ranked No. 8 in the shot put, followed by Hadley Lucas at No. 23. Kylie Finger is ranked 19th in the 5000 meters.Â
5. UP NEXT: The top-12 athletes in each event will qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held June 10-13 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
