COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Wisconsin women's swim and dive team completed day one of the 2025 Big Ten Championship with third-place and fifth-place finishes on Wednesday evening.
The Badgers started off the meet with a third place finish in the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:35.07. The team of
Maggie Wanezek,
Hazal Ozkan,
Phoebe Bacon and
Hailey Tierney finished behind first place finishers Michigan with a time of 1:34.42 and second place Indiana with a time of 1:34.52. The Badgers just out-touched USC, touching the wall in time of 1:35.13.
The divers competed in an exhibition diving event during the intermission before swimming resumed with the 800 free relay. The Wisconsin team of
Abby Carlson,
Phoebe Bacon,
Abby Wanezek and
Blair Stoneburg finished in fifth place with a time of 7:01.20. Michigan claimed first in the 800 free relay as well, with a time of 6:52.04 for a new Big Ten Championship record.
Competition resumes tomorrow with the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle and 1-meter diving. Prelims will begin at 9 a.m. (CT) and finals at 4 p.m. (CT).
