Badgers blow away competition

Meet in Chicago is marked by four wins and numerous personal records

CHICAGO – The Wisconsin track and field team wrapped up an action-filled day at the DePaul Invite at the Gately Track in Chicago highlighted by four wins and multiple personal records.

Down in the Windy City, the sprints picked up speed. Freshman Landon Gallun blew through the competition in the 60-meter dash, setting a personal record and finishing third in the finals with a time of 6.89. He found continued success in the 200 meters, where he once again finished third with a personal best time of 21.73.

As the day continued, the distances lengthened. In the mile, Oak Park, Illinois native Liam Newhart claimed victory in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:01.34, going one-two with Archie Noakes who crossed the line at 4:01.55. In the 800 meters, JJ Williams finished second, clocking 1:52.00 and adding another personal best to his season.

The throwers continued their domination of the 2025 season, securing multiple top finishes. Joseph White won the men's weight throw with a toss of 70-10 ½, while Jason Swarens placed third with a throw of 63-0 ¼ and Cole Hooper took fourth with a mark of 61-6 ¼. Shot put saw another victory for the Badgers, as Jason Swarens threw 63-9 ½ to take first place, while Andrew Stone finished second at 60-11 ½

Up next: The Badgers return to Chicago next weekend for the Windy City Invitational at the Gately Track.
