Four Badgers compete at the World Athletics U20 Championships

Vasiliki Samolada finished top-10
MADISON, Wis. – Four UW athletes competed at the World Athletics U20 Championships on August 5-9 in Eugene, Oregon.
Vasiliki Samolada led the Wisconsin crew, finishing 10th in the discus finals with a toss of 165 feet, -6 ¼ inches (50.45m) as she competed for Greece. She set a PR in the preliminary round of 173-1 (52.67m) that ranks No. 8 in program history.
Future Badger Ellis McHugh competed for Ireland and finished 15th in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal best of 58.49.
On the men's side, Cillian Gleeson placed 21st in the 5000 meters with a 14:38.01, also competing for Ireland.
To wrap things up, Darius Jones II finished 28th in the decathlon with 5698 points and was the lone Badger competing for the USA.
