
Five things to know: Badgers prepare to host fifth annual Windy City Invite

Wisconsin looks to face fierce competition in Chicago
MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Badgers will host the fifth annual Windy City Invite in Chicago this weekend Friday and Saturday. The meet will occur at Dr. Conrad Worrill Track & Field Center on the south side of Chicago. Many competitive teams are scheduled to be in attendance including No.8 Tennessee, No.14 Louisville and North Carolina.Â

1. SETTING THE BAR: Last year, Leane Willemse won the 3000 meters with a time of 9:07.80 at the Windy City Invite. Other current Badgers also were successful, Mya Bunke finished in second in the 800 meters, crossing the finish line at 2:09.50, followed by Emma Kruse who finished in fourth with a time of 2:09.55 in Chicago. Danni Langseth led UW in shot put, placing fourth with a heave of 52-5 ¼ (15.98m), followed by Zonica Lindeque in fifth and Hadley Lucas in seventh. The Badgers dominated the weight throw, finishing 1-3, with current Badger Taylor Kesner finishing in second.Â
2. SUPER SOPHOMORE: Nora Skoraczewski joined the four other Badgers to jump into the Wisconsin indoor top ten record book this season. Skoraczewski threw her personal best with a mark of 66-2 ¼ (20.17m). Skoraczewski now holds the tenth spot in the badger record book for the weight throw. The sophomore is the first thrower this season to make the indoor top ten list. Â
3. LOCKED IN EARLY: Sara Mlodik is hitting her stride this indoor season. At the Penn Elite, she finished in second in the 3000 meters, crossing the finish line in 9:34.98. The weekend prior she had success, running her personal best in the mile, placing ninth with a time of 4:53.71.
4. ALL EYES ON UW: For Friday and Saturdays events, fans can keep up with the action and follow along on social media through @BadgerTrackXC pages on X and Instagram and through live results here. The meet is set to be live streamed through Big Ten Plus and RunnerSpace.Â
5. UP NEXT: The Badgers will have three away meets next weekend Friday Feb. 13 and Saturday Feb. 14. The team will travel to Texas for the Jarvis Scott Invite, to Boston for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational and back to Chicago for the Blue Demon Alumni ClassicÂ
