Shwartz finishes top-five, lifts UW in Arizona

Badgers take ninth at Pay it Forward Collegiate
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. -- Wisconsin men's golf sophomore Jason Shwartz tied for fifth-place to lead the UW during the Pay it Forward Collegiate at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona. The Badgers finished ninth, overall, going +4 on the week.Â
Shwartz shot five-under to earn his second career top-five finish, going under-par in all three rounds. He had the second-most birdies on Par 4s with five, also posting the field's second-best average at 3.82. It's Shwartz's first top-five finish since the Badger Invitational during September of 2024. The redshirt freshman has built early momentum this spring with a top-15 finish at the Puerto Rico Classic, even leading after Day 1.
Sophomore William Harned finished 26th at even-par following a season-low 68 (-4) in the first round. It's his highest finish since last season's Big Ten Championships. He yielded just two bogeys in the day's opening frame, and notched an eagle on the Par 5, 14th Hole. The Wisconsin native shot a pair of 74s on the final 36-holes.Â
Senior Spencer Turtz took 33rd at two-over, highlighted by a a second-round 70 (-2). He shot up 25 places on the leaderboard Monday afternoon, birdying two of his final four holes.
Graduate Jacob Beckman was UW's second-highest finisher Tuesday at one-over. He tied for 60th, overall. Competing individually, James Boustead was right with Beckman in 60th, firing a 71 (-1) on Tuesday. Charles Erlandson finished 65th after scoring for the Badgers in Round 3, going +2 on the card.
Wisconsin will take a week off before heading to the Hoosier Collegiate on April 18. It'll be the regular season finale before the Big Ten Championships from May 1-3. Â
