Shwartz paces UW in eighth at three-under
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. -- Wisconsin men's golf sophomore Jason Shwartz sits in eighth place to lead the Badgers after Day 1 of the Pay it Forward Collegiate at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park in Arizona. UW is in eighth, overall, at two-over after playing 36 holes on Monday. They'll tee off the final 18 Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. CT.
After firing a second-round 70 (-2), Shwartz now looks to earn his second top-15 finish of the spring season. The Floridian went -3 on his final 10 holes, rising 12 spots on the leaderboard in the afternoon session.Â
Sophomore William Harned is in 17th at two-under following a season-low 68 (-4) in the first round. He yielded just two bogeys in the day's opening frame, and notched an eagle on the Par 5, 14th Hole. The Wisconsin native went two-over in the final 18 to sit in the top-20.
Senior Spencer Turtz is right behind Harned in 27th after shooting up 25 places on the leaderboard in the afternoon. He's now even-par for the tournament after a second-round 70 (-2), where he birdied two of his final four holes.Â
Graduate Jacob Beckman lands in 68th at +7, bouncing back from opening struggles with a 73 (+1) in the second round. Charles Erlandson is one stroke behind Beckman at +8, going +2 in the final frame. Competing individually, James Boustead is in 81st at nine-over.
