Badgers set to compete in Ron and Sharlene Allice Trojan Invite
MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's track and field team will kick off their spring break in Los Angeles this weekend, competing at the Ron and Sharlene Allice Trojan Invite hosted by USC. The meet marks the first of seven competitions the Badgers will attend in California this outdoor season.
Select throwing events will take place on Friday while the rest of the meet will begin at 1 p.m. CT at Allyson Felix Field inside Loker Track Stadium. Fans can follow along through live results and the meet schedule here, and those unable to travel can stay updated on Instagram and X at @BadgerTrackXC. Tickets are available for purchase in advance here.
1. HOT START: Wisconsin opened its outdoor campaign last weekend at the USF Alumni Invitational in Tampa, where the Badgers delivered three top‑10 marks in the program record book. Danni Langseth got things rolling in shot put, launching a personal best of 55 feet, ¼ inch (16.77m) to strengthen her hold on the No. 7 spot in school history. On the track, the 4x100‑meter relay of Luciana Aizpurua, Sydney Robinson, Catalina Sanchious and Rachel Robinson teamed up for the first time this season and clocked 46.03 seconds, good for No. 9 all‑time at UW. Hadley Lucas capped the weekend with a standout discus performance, throwing 171‑0 (52.12m) to move to No. 8 in program history. Langseth will look to build on her momentum in shot put, Hadley Lucas will compete in both shot put and discus this weekend, while the 4x100 quartet returns to action in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
2. CALIFORNIA DREAMING: This meet kicks off a stretch of two straight weekends in California, with the Badgers heading north to Stanford next. After a brief return to the Midwest in early April for meets in Platteville, Wisconsin, and Champaign, Illinois, Wisconsin will head back to the Golden State for three more competitions.
3. FABULOUS FRESHMAN: Freshman sprinter Luciana Aizpurua has been a breakout performer for the Badgers, earning four individual top‑10 marks in the 60 meters during the indoor season and now adding a relay top‑10 mark outdoors. She steadily climbed the program ranks this winter, from No. 7 to No. 6 to No. 5 and ultimately No. 3, and will look to carry that speed into her first collegiate outdoor campaign.
4. SCOUTING THE COMPETITION: The Badgers will face strong competition in Los Angeles, including BYU, Utah, and host USC. Eight sprinters across those programs competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships, with USC bringing six national qualifiers to the track.
5. UP NEXT: The Badgers will compete again in California next weekend. A group of distance runners will compete at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, California on April 3-4 while a contingent will compete in San Diego at the Triton Invitational on April 3-4.Â
