UW earns three top-10 finishes on Saturday in Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. – The Wisconsin men's track and field team saw a trio of top-10 finishes on Saturday at the 2026 Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Nebraska Outdoor Track.
Henry Risser ran the No. 9 time in school history in the 800 meters of 1 minutes, 47.33 seconds en route to a runner-up finish in his section of the 800 meters. Risser went toe-to-toe with Minnesota's Ramy Ayoub as Ayoub won the section in 1:47.13 to automatically qualify for Sunday's final. Risser's time was the 12th-fastest of the afternoon.
Patrick Hilby placed 19th in the 800 meters in 1:48.69.
Josh Onwunili just missed advancing to the finals of the 100 meters as he clocked in at 10.33, good for third in his section and ninth overall.
Senior Jacob Schaefer collected a top-10 finish in the discus, placing 10th with a heave of 181 feet, 9 inches (55.40m).
Freshman Jack Schmeling finished 10th in the decathlon with a personal-best score of 6,429 points. The Onalaska native was runner-up in the decathlon discus with a throw of 142-2 (43.34m) and had a lifetime best in the pole vault with a clearance of 13-9 ¼ (4.20m).
Darius Jones II placed 14th in the 110 hurdles thanks to a time of 14.72.
