Six different Badgers find the back on the net

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — No. 16 Wisconsin women's soccer closed out non-conference play with a 6-2 victory over Central Michigan on Sunday afternoon at the CMU Soccer Complex.

How it Happened:

Wisconsin wasted little time getting on the board, striking less than three minutes into the match. Kiara Gilmore opened the scoring off an assist from Izy Traub, giving Gilmore her first goal of the season.

The Badgers added two more goals in a span of just over two minutes midway through the first half. Jane Rogers doubled Wisconsin's lead in the 20th minute, finishing another setup from Traub for her second goal of the season. Anya Gulbrandsen followed in the 22nd minute, scoring off an assist from Abby Ballek to push the lead to 3-0.

Central Michigan answered in the 24th minute when Kylee Weed cut Wisconsin's advantage to 3-1. The Badgers continued to create chances through the remainder of the half and entered the break with a two-goal lead. Wisconsin outshot Central Michigan 12-3 in the opening 45.

Second Half

Wisconsin extended its lead in the 65th minute as Hailey Baumann found the back of the net for her second goal of the season, with Traub picking up her third assist of the afternoon. Central Michigan responded just over two minutes later as Ella Betzold scored to make it 4-2.

The Badgers put the game away with two goals in the final 10 minutes. Margaret Sisk scored for the third consecutive match in the 81st minute, finishing off an assist from Rogers to give Wisconsin a 5-2 advantage.

Grace Dykstra capped off the scoring in the 88th with her first goal of the season, securing the 6-2 victory for Wisconsin.

Wisconsin's six goals marked its most in a match since Nov. 16, 2018, when the Badgers defeated Hofstra, 6-0, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
