Madison native, Pam Moore, began her career with the Badgers as a rare two-sport athlete, competing in both basketball as well as track. In Moore's short-lived, but prosperous basketball career, she was the Badgers' leading scorer and rebounder as a freshman. After her first season, Moore decided to devote all her time and effort to her first love, track.

This transition to strictly track provided Moore with major success as she won numerous titles and also contributed to setting school and even a world record. Moore was a 10-time Big Ten Conference champion in the 400-meter dash and relays. She was a member of the eight Big Ten championship teams in indoor and outdoor track.

Moore won the 400 meters at the 1981 AIAW indoor national championships, setting a meet record, and also earned All-America honors in the distance-medley relay in 1981. She was a member of the 1979 world-record-breaking mile relay team, contributing a 57.6 on her 400-meter leg.

As a senior, Moore set the UW indoor and outdoor records in the 400 meters, marks which still stand today - more than 25 years later. She was also a three-time team MVP.

Moore was rewarded for her successes when she was inducted into the University of Wisconsin's Hall of Fame in 2006. Athleticism seems runs in her genes as her son, Wesley Matthews, whose father is former Badger and NBA player Wes Matthews, is a senior and leading scorer for the Marquette Golden Eagles men's basketball team.
