Adam Wehking

Adam Wehking began his Wisconsin coaching career in the fall of 2022 after an illustrious rowing career on the water for UW.

Wehking did it all during his five years on the Badger rowing team, rowing with the first varsity eight for four years, including earning Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) All-America honors in both 2021 and 2022.

As former UW head coach Chris Clark praised Wehking when he joined the coaching staff, "Adam is the epitome of a Badger oarsman; a terrific athlete, a leader on the team and throughout Athletics, and born and bred locally."

One of three team captains for the 2022 season, he was also team captain in 2021.

A multiple Academic All-Big Ten student, the Marshall, Wisconsin, native won UW's 2022 Big Ten Outstanding Sportsmanship Award for men in the athtetic department, while also earning Big Ten Distinguished Scholar accolades.

Invited to USRowing's Under 23 Selection Camp in 2020, Wehking was a walk-on at Wisconsin, earning the inaugural IRCA Novice Walk-On Award in 2021.

Wehking came to Wisconsin after spending high school as a three-sport athlete in football, basketball and baseball, captaining football and basketball three times and earning all-conference accolades in all three sports including as a quarterback, defensive end and outside linebacker in football. He was conference player of the year in basketball.

"Guys like Adam are unfortunately incredibly rare. It's very unusual to find a young college kid who from the very start is ready-made in attitude, competitive fortitude, and as a leader. As a coach you just wish these qualities were more common."
