Women's Hockey Fourth In USA Today Preseason Poll

The University of Wisconsin women's ice hockey team ranks fourth in the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine Preseason Poll released Tuesday afternoon. The Badgers, who finished seventh in the final poll last season, earned 83 points.
The No. 4 ranking is the highest preseason ranking for the Badger women. The previous high was 10th achieved at the start of last season. The ranking is also the highest ever for the program. Wisconsin reached No. 5 early in November of 2000.
Defending NCAA champion Minnesota-Duluth earned all 13 first-place votes and 130 points to rank first. Dartmouth College earned 110 points and St. Lawrence earned 104 points to rank second and third, respectively. Both teams were part of the NCAA Frozen Four in 2001.
The Badger open play on Friday, Oct. 12 at St. Cloud State. They return home on Saturday, Oct. 20 and play host to Connecticut at the Kohl Center. The game begins at 2:35 p.m.
