Volleyball Moves Up to Fifth

The Wisconsin volleyball team moved up one spot to fifth in USA Today/AVCA Top 25 Coaches poll, released Oct. 22.
Long Beach State (15-0) continues to hold the No.1 spot for the fourth week in a row. Nebraska (17-1) is ranked second while USC (14-1) remains in third. Stanford (16-2) remains fourth. UCLA (10-4), which lost to USC last week, fell from fifth to sixth.
Among the Big Ten Conference schools, Wisconsin is the top-ranked team. Ohio State (17-1) is ranked 10th for the third consecutive week while Penn State (14-4) falls two spots to 13th. Minnesota (11-7) remains at 21st. Michigan and Illinois receive votes.
Wisconsin remains in sixth in the Volleyball Magazine poll released Oct. 22. Long Beach State leads the Volleyball poll for the eighth consecutive week while Nebraska remains second. The rest of the top five also remains the same with USC third, Stanford fourth and Florida (14-1) fifth.
The Badgers opens the second half of the Big Ten season this weekend with what is arguably the toughest road swing in the league. The Badgers travel to 10th-ranked Ohio State on Friday for a 7 p.m. EST match in St. John's Arena in Columbus, Ohio. That match will be broadcast on a tape-delayed basis by FoxSports Net. The match will show on FoxSports Chicago on Sunday at 3 p.m. and on FoxSports North on Monday at 2 p.m.
On Saturday, Wisconsin takes on 13th-ranked Penn State at 7 p.m. EST in Rec Hall in University Park, Pa. That match will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2 on Sunday at 3 p.m.
