Volleyball Drops to Seventh

The Wisconsin volleyball team fell two spots to seventh in USA Today/AVCA Top 25 Coaches poll, released Oct. 30. The Badgers are coming off a 2-3 loss to then-No. 13 Penn State.
Long Beach State (18-0) holds the No.1 spot in the poll for the fifth week in a row. Nebraska (19-1) is ranked second while Stanford (18-2) moves up one spot to third. Arizona (15-3), which defeated USC last week, jumps up three spots to fourth while USC (15-2) falls to fifth.
Among the Big Ten Conference schools, Wisconsin remains the top-ranked team. Ohio State (18-2) is ranked 10th for the fourth consecutive week while Penn State (16-4) moves up two spots to 11th. Minnesota (12-8) falls three spots to 24th while Illinois (15-5) moves on to the poll for the first time this season at 25th. Michigan receives votes.
Wisconsin falls one spot to seventh in the Volleyball Magazine poll released Oct. 29. Long Beach State leads the Volleyball poll for the ninth consecutive week while Nebraska remains second. Stanford moves up one spot to third, Arizona leaps five spots to ninth and Florida (16-1) remains fifth.
The Badgers (17-3, 11-1) return home still leading the Big Ten after playing five of its last six matches on the road. Wisconsin hosts fourth-place and 25th-ranked Illinois (15-5, 8-4) on Friday at 7 p.m. in the UW Field House. On Saturday, ninth-place Indiana (6-14, 3-9) comes to town for a 7 p.m. match in the Barn.
