Nick Davis, a senior return specialist and wide receiver with the Wisconsin football team, has been selected as one of 10 finalists for the 2001 Mosi Tatupu Specials Teams Player of the Year Award.
Davis, a semifinalist for the award in 1999, needs 70 yards to become the first player in school history to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark in three categories (punt returns, kickoff returns and receiving yardage). He currently is averaging 21.8 yards per kick return and 9.9 yards per punt return. He has five (three punt, two kickoff) career returns for touchdowns.
Also, junior WR Lee Evans and senior DL Wendell Bryant have been selected as semifinalists for the Football News' national offensive and defensive player of the year awards, respectively.
