Livingston Named Co-Big Ten Player of the Week

Sherisa Livingston, a senior at the University of Wisconsin, was named the co-Big Ten Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for Nov. 19, the conference office announced. She shares the award with Michigan State's Angela Morley.
Livingston, a 6-2 middle blocker, led the Badgers to a share of the 2001 Big Ten Conference crown with two wins at home. She recorded match highs of 18 kills, seven blocks and a .773 hitting percentage against Iowa on Friday night. On Sunday, Livingston had a match-high 24 kills and .364 hitting percentage against Minnesota. On the weekend, she averaged 7.00 kills and 1.83 blocks per game while hitting .500 percent.
Livingston, who has recorded double-figure kills in all 26 matches this season, recorded her 10th 20-plus kill match against the Gophers. She set UW three-game season highs with her 24 kills against Minnesota as well as her .773 hitting percentage and seven blocks against Iowa.
One of the top UW players, Livngston continues to move up the Big Ten and UW career lists. She moved into third on the UW list and 10th on the Big Ten list with 561 blocks in her career. The UW's all-time kill leader, Livingston moved up to ninth on the Big Ten list with 1,839 career kills.
The sixth-ranked Badgers can clinch their second consecutive league title outright when they host eighth-place Northwestern (7-16, 5-13) on Wednesday at 7 p.m., in their final home league match. Wisconsin wraps up the Big Ten season on Friday at 11th-place Purdue (4-23, 1-17) with a 7 p.m. EST match.
Andrea Williams from the Big Ten Conference Office will be present at Wednesday's match against Northwestern to award the Badgers their 2001 Big Ten Championship trophy. The presentation will take place after the match.
