Volleyball Remains at Sixth

The Badgers stayed at sixth in USA Today/AVCA Top 25 Coaches poll released Nov. 19.
Long Beach State (23-0) remains No.1 for the eighth consecutive week while former top-ranked Nebraska (25-1) stays second. The rest of the of the top five remains the same with Stanford (25-2) third, Arizona (19-4) fourth, and USC (20-3) fifth.
Among the Big Ten Conference, Wisconsin is the top-ranked team. Ohio State (23-3) falls three spots to 12th while Penn State (19-7) falls two spots to 16th. Illinois (19-7) stays at 21st while Michigan State (18-7) moves on to the poll at 22nd. Minnesota (18-10) receive votes.
Wisconsin remains at seventh in the Volleyball Magazine poll released Nov. 19. Long Beach State leads the Volleyball poll for the 12th consecutive week while Nebraska remains second. The top four teams stay the same as last week with Stanford third, Arizona fourth and USC fifth.
The Badgers can clinch their second consecutive league title outright when they host eighth-place Northwestern (7-16, 5-13) on Wednesday at 7 p.m., in their final home league match. Wisconsin wraps up the Big Ten season on Friday at 11th-place Purdue (4-23, 1-17) with a 7 p.m. EST match.
Andrea Williams from the Big Ten Conference Office will be present at Wednesday's match against Northwestern to award the Badgers their 2001 Big Ten Championship trophy. The presentation will take place after the match.
