Volleyball Improves to Sixth

The Wisconsin volleyball team moved up one spot to sixth in USA Today/AVCA Top 25 Coaches poll released Nov. 5.
Long Beach State (20-0) remains No.1 for the sixth consecutive week while former top-ranked Nebraska (20-1) stays second. The rest of the of the top five remains the same with Stanford (21-2) third, Arizona (16-3) fourth, and USC (17-2) fifth.
Among the Big Ten Conference, Wisconsin is the top-ranked team. Ohio State (20-2) remains at 10th while Penn State (17-5) falls two spots to 13th. Illinois (16-6) moves up one spot to 24th while Minnesota (13-9) and Michigan State (15-6) receive votes.
Wisconsin remains at seventh in the Volleyball Magazine poll released Nov. 5. Long Beach State leads the Volleyball poll for the 10th consecutive week while Nebraska remains second. The top five team stay the same as last week with Stanford third, Arizona fourth and Florida (16-1) fifth.
Wisconsin takes to the road for the second-to-last time during the 2001 Big Ten season. The first-place Badgers (13-1 in the Big Ten) travel to sixth-place Michigan (11-10, 7-7) on Saturday for a 7 p.m. EST match. On Saturday, Wisconsin takes on fifth-place Michigan State (15-6, 8-6) at 7 p.m. EST.
