Livingston and Fitzgerald Named All-American

Lizzy Fitzgerald and Sherisa Livingston, seniors on the University of Wisconsin volleyball team, have been named to the 2001 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America team.
Livingston becomes the first two-time first-team volleyball All-American at the UW while Fitzgerald earns second-team All-America honors for the second-straight season.
Fitzgerald, a 6-1 setter, was named the the 2001 Big Ten Conference Player of the Year. She is only the third UW athlete to be honored as player of the year in volleyball joining Lisa Boyd (1990) and Sherisa Livingston (co-2000). Fitzgerald ranks among the top setters in the nation, averaging 13.72 assists per game. She ranked second on the team with 2.45 digs per game, recording double-figure digs in 12 matches, and third on the team with 0.89 blocks per game. Fitzgerald also averaged 0.98 kills and 0.21 service aces. A three-year starter, Fitzgerald ranks third on the UW career list for assists with 3,923.
Livingston, a 6-2 middle blocker, was a unanimous selection to the 2001 All-Big Ten team and became the first UW player to earn four all-region honors. She led the league and set the UW season record with a .402 hitting percentage and ranked second in the Big Ten with 5.13 kills per game. Livingston also ranked among the top-10 nationally in both categories. The team's offensive leader, Livingston recorded double-figure kills in all 31 matches this season. A four-year starter, she set the UW career record for kills this season and ranks seventh on the Big Ten career list with 1,912 kills. Livingston also ranks sixth in the league and third at the UW with 580 career blocks. She led the Badgers with 1.17 blocks per game.
