Goodman Diamond Lights Up On Wednesday
December 19, 2001 | Softball
Wisconsin softball will shine a little brighter this Wednesday as the Badgers test the new lighting system at the Robert and Irwin Goodman Softball Complex at 5 p.m. Bob Goodman, whose generous donation made the lights possible, and UW head coach Karen Gallagher will be present for the ceremony.
The lighting system will allow the Badgers greater flexibility in scheduling games and practice times at Goodman Diamond, which will experience its fourth season as the home for Wisconsin softball in 2002. The facility, located at 2301 University Bay Drive, opened with a 9-1 UW victory over Loyola on March 30, 1999.
Goodman's lights will be used for competition for the first time on March 29, 2002, as the Badgers host Purdue at 6 p.m. in Wisconsin's home opener. The complex is also scheduled to host the WIAA State Softball Tournament on June 4-5.
